Miami Dade College student, Jonathan Wynn-Strachan created the 60 Minutes of Arts nonprofit in 2014 to bring activities and events to the inner city neighborhoods of Miami that have lost art program funding. To do this, Wynn-Strachan presents visual and performing arts activities in the community so students can integrate these skills in their education. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe arts play a pivotal part of language arts and reading; they are important in social studies; and they are universal, nothing else functions without it,\u201d Wynn-Strachan said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recently, Wynn-Strachan launched a nonprofit, Cares, a comprehensive program that serves those in need of food and clothing. \u00a0The organization works with the College\u2019s Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy, allowing MDC students to help and complete service learning requirements. Initiatives include feeding the homeless. <\/span><\/p>\n
