The NightTime Jazz Band\u2019s performance at Kendall Campus<\/span><\/a> features a blend of contemporary and classic big band, small group, instrumental and vocal jazz. The concert takes place on April 19 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at the Alfred L. McCarthy Hall, 11011 S.W. 104 St., Room 6210. <\/span><\/p>\n

The performance will include a 25 plus piece ensemble, a rhythm section and a vocalist. The event is intended to promote involvement in the arts by students and members of the community. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe performers are an eclectic group including college students, and adults from the community,\u201d director James Broderick said. \u201cSome have been members of the band for a number of years. The NightTime Jazz Band was created to educate students, involve the community and promote jazz. It\u2019s not just a band, it\u2019s a class where everyone comes together to gain knowledge, as well as a better understanding and appreciation for this great music. Since I started the NightTime Jazz Band in 2008, it has grown from a small combo into a big band averaging between 20\u201330 members.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Students can join the band by registering for it like they would for any class. All members must be proficient at reading music, have adequate skills with their instrument of choice, and be willing to practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n
