But the call never came.<\/p>\n
However, a day later, Palomino received a different call \u2014 from the mother of her recently hired worker Hector Tornado Miranda. She said her 18-year-old son was dead.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can\u2019t believe it,\u201d Palomino, a manager of Atlanta Bread Company, said. \u201cWe were expecting a call from Hector. We thought he might be late.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miranda and Marcos Ernesto Pomares, 19, were both found\u00a0 dead in a West Miami-Dade swamp on June 11, according to Miami-Dade police.\u00a0 According to relatives, they were both Miami Dade College students.<\/p>\n
Friends of Pomares and Miranda said the men had recently become friends but declined to comment.<\/p>\n
The case has been ruled a \u201cdeath investigation,\u201d Miami-Dade police Maj. Nancy Perez said.<\/p>\n
Records show Miranda and Pomares were reported missing on June 9.<\/p>\n
Miranda\u2019s mother, Teresa Miranda, declined to comment on the case.<\/p>\n
Miami Dade Police found the two bodies in a swamp near the 13300 block of Northwest 25th Street.<\/p>\n
One body lay on dry brush; the other was across a road in about two feet of water.<\/p>\n
According to Florida Department of Law Enforcement records, Miranda was arrested in 2011 for selling drugs near a school. The charges were later dropped.<\/p>\n
A former high school classmate of Pomares\u2019 remembered him fondly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I came to highschool I was pretty antisocial,\u201d said Kendall Campus student Brian Madrid, 20. \u201cBut Marcos wasn\u2019t, he just started a conversation with me right from the start and started cracking jokes.\u201d<\/p>\n
A longtime friend of Miranda, Carlos Lacayo, described his friend as \u201ccaring\u201d and \u201ca blast\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was just a fun dude,\u201d Lacayo said. \u201c We would always party together. He was great, just a great person overall.\u201d<\/p>\n
