{"id":6822,"date":"2011-09-06T15:15:56","date_gmt":"2011-09-06T19:15:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=6822"},"modified":"2016-05-02T15:19:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-02T19:19:36","slug":"changes-to-standards-of-academic-progress-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/changes-to-standards-of-academic-progress-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes To Standards Of Academic Progress Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to an email sent to students by College Wide Financial Aid Director Mercedes Amaya on Friday, July. 22, changes have been made to the Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress Policy for new and continuing students.<\/p>\n<p>The standards for Academic Progress have been changed to help students and the Financial Aid Office assist students finish their studies in time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These changes are designed to help students progress towards graduation in a timely manner and allows the Financial Aid Office to work with students through the use of an Individual Education Plan when extenuating circumstances affect a student&#8217;s academic progress,&#8221; Amaya said.<\/p>\n<p>The Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy includes two components:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Qualitative (GPA):<\/strong> The qualitative standards consist of the grade point average necessary to meet academic progress towards program completion.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum GPA requirements<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<table>\n<colgroup>\n<col width=\"219\" \/>\n<col width=\"183\" \/><\/colgroup>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Total Credit Hours Attempted<\/td>\n<td>Required Cumulative GPA<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>7-29.9 credits<\/td>\n<td>1.5 or greater<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>30-44.9 credits<\/td>\n<td>1.8 or greater<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>45- or more credits<\/td>\n<td>2.0 or greater<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>2) Quantitative Standards:<\/strong> (Completion Rate and Maximum Time Frame)<\/p>\n<p>Completion Rate: You must complete 67% of all courses attempted.<\/p>\n<p>Maximum Time Frame: Your financial aid eligibility is limited to 150% of the credits required to complete your program of study.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information, please contact your campus Financial Aid Office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to an email sent to students by College Wide Financial Aid Director Mercedes Amaya on Friday, July. 22, changes have been made to the Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress Policy for new and continuing students.
