Stephen Joyner began working as the new dean of students at Kendall Campus on June 29.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joyner has more than 20 years of experience in student services and student affairs. For the past eight years, he worked at the executive level of \u00a0administration at Florida International University<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to be here and I\u2019m looking forward to meeting all the students and to represent the students at Miami Dade College,\u201d Joyner said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joyner will have three main responsibilities as dean of students. He will oversee the new student center, office of recruitment, international student services, testing, retention, transition services, ACCESS, academic affairs, student life organizations and career advisement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other piece of his job is to manage the office of the dean of students. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen students violate the student code of conduct they come to my office and my job is to investigate the case,\u201d Joyner said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joyner, who earned his Ph.D in political science at Georgia State University in Atlanta, is also a member of the campus president’s cabinet. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
