{"id":7846,"date":"2010-11-15T14:19:26","date_gmt":"2010-11-15T19:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=7846"},"modified":"2016-05-12T14:21:24","modified_gmt":"2016-05-12T18:21:24","slug":"medical-center-campus-students-win-state-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/medical-center-campus-students-win-state-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Center Campus Students Win State Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Miami Dade College Medical Center Campus students won three first place awards at the Florida Nursing Student Association Convention.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held in Daytona Beach from Oct. 27- 30.<\/p>\n<p>Gail Hoyer, the chapter president of the Student Nurses Association at Miami Dade College, and Colin Walker, the lead developer of the website team, received first place for Best SNA Website.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Nurses Association from the Medical Center Campus also scored first place for Best Host School for hosting the most effective seminars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNursing is more than just a profession, nurses put themselves in other people\u2019s shoes,\u201d Hoyer said.<\/p>\n<p>Students were not the only ones to win prizes; team adviser Pauline Kerr won the Amblyopia award fo her screening project on preschool children in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heroes are the students and faculty, who are [here] day in and day out,\u201d said Madeline Pumariega, dean of administration and students at Medical Center Campus. \u201cThat is what makes them all shine.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Miami Dade College Medical Center Campus students won three first place awards at the Florida Nursing Student Association Convention.
