Miami Dade College will pay tribute to <\/span>Cuban comedian\/actor Leopoldo Fernandez<\/span><\/a>, better known as Tres Patines, with an exhibition at West Campus, 3800 N.W. 115th Ave. The opening ceremony will take place on Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. in Room 1102. <\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibit, Cosa M\u00e1s Grande: Memories of the Legendary Tres Patines<\/em>, consists of personal artifacts and photographs of the late comedian, as well as audio recordings of his radio and television broadcasts.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the opening, musicians will perform songs written by Fernandez himself. The Cristina Masdue\u00f1os\u2019 dancers will perform and there will also be a screening of the film <\/span>Ol\u00e9 Cuba, which <\/span><\/i>portrays 1950s Cuban society. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt promises to be a great event, remembering a man who had a very positive impact on society,\u201d said associate director of learning resources at West Campus, Sara Alegr\u00eda. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1959, Fernandez was exiled to Miami where he continued performing in theaters, television programs and movies throughout the U.S. and Latin America. He is widely regarded as being one of the most popular comedians in Hispanic culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition will be displayed through Oct. 14, and it is free and open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
