The conference was held in Tampa from Nov. 9-12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His research began last May and focused on finding new medicines to slow down or cure Multiple Sclerosis\u2014an unpredictable and debilitating neurological disease that disrupts the communication between the brain and the body. He completed his research under the supervision of a doctoral candidate from the <a href=\"https:\/\/welcome.miami.edu\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">University of Miami<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cIt was a difficult transition for me to jump in, for I had no experience on research as big as this one,\u201d Gallo said. \u201cI am immensely proud of what I have accomplished.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gallo is passionate about the field. He also enjoys writing as well as helping his colleagues and the community in general. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI saw a woman who was paralyzed get into a bionic suit, and she started moving her legs with a controller,\u201d Gallo said. \u201cThat was what inspired me to be a part of this research.
