Miami Dade College\u2019s Culinary Institute, located at <\/span>415 N.E. 2nd Ave., will host the first annual Better Food Movement conference to discuss important issues affecting food on Feb. 22 starting at 8:30 a.m. <\/span><\/p>\n

Students are welcome to network and learn from different business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and influencers from different regions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Morning sessions will focus on issues like sugar, soda tax and legislation. The afternoon sessions will revolve around food innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to Marion Nestle, author of <\/span>Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition & Health<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Soda Politics: Taking on Big Soda.<\/span><\/i> There will also be a special guest speaker, Sara Soka, the consultant on the campaign for Berkeley versus Big Soda\u2014a group that advocates for fees on sugary drinks. <\/span><\/p>\n
