The competition seeks to create awareness about the United States’ long-term national debt. It runs from September 15 to December 10 and features teams of three to five students creating public awareness campaigns that educate others on how implementing sustainable fiscal policy can benefit one of the following industries:

  • Business or entrepreneurship.
  • Economics and finance.
  • Marketing, communications and public relations.
  • Science, technology, engineering and math.
  • Political science and public policy.

Teams must commit to working on their project from two to five hours per week. They will receive a $800 stipend and hands-on training in digital advocacy, leadership and campaign management. They also get a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize and apply to online courses taught by the Harvard Business School.

“It’s a great fit for students who are interested in the business field,” said Joshua Young, iCED’s collegewide director. “It’s also a great project for a student organization—from the finance club to Phi Theta Kappa—to take on and sign up the team.”

During the summer, the Up to Us team at Wolfson Campus received the Most Social Media Engagement Award for the competition. They were also named one of the top 20 finalists for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 competitions.

Students interested in participating should fill this interest form out. Applications will be sent to those students at the beginning of August.
