Student Concert Delights Crowd At Kendall

Student musician Jordan Brown took the stage at the McCarthy Auditorium at  MDC’s Kendall Campus’  on April 12 to perform a series of new songs.

Music professor Tim Buchholz introduced Brown onto the stage. Brown’s first song was the pleasing, “Generation Love”.

Energetic as Brown himself, the band that played with Brown was animated featuring horns, a sultry saxophone, electric guitars, a bass, and a keyboardist who flew in all the way from Boston for the chance to play with Brown.

Songs such as “Door Wide Open” and “Any Other Lover”—the latter being a tribute to a friend’s experience with a broken heart—were similar to that of John Mayer’s music, a little bit of pop infused with jazz influences.

Brown began his career playing in restaurants and street corners.

“He’s one of those musicians that you know is going to be famous,” said Linda Alvarado, a music major.
