The Reporter Selects New Sports Editor

Nicholas Gowdy, a mass communication and journalism major at Kendall Campus, was appointed as sports editor of The Reporter for the 2025-26 academic year.

His duties include contacting coaches, writing stories, interviewing players and coaching, assigning photographers and writers and editing content weekly.

“I feel blessed and excited to see what’s next for the future,” Gowdy said.

The 19-year-old freshman joined The Reporter this past summer as a sports writer. His first story was a preview of the Miami Dade College men’s soccer team season. Since then, he quickly developed into the paper’s top sports writer, covering the Lady Sharks Volleyball Team’s 11th national title and wrote a feature on Lady Sharks Goalkeeper Ashley Fonseca.

Gowdy graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 2023. He aspires to be a sports journalist at ESPN.
