The Reporter’s Multimedia Editor, Akeem Brunson, has been selected as a 2012 summer intern at the Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.

Brunson, a 23-year-old mass communications major at North Campus, has been working in the multimedia department of the Broward based newspaper since June, creating video stories to augment the print product.

At The Reporter, Brunson started as a photographer, but eventually discovered multimedia reporting.

He has videotaped, edited and produced a wide-range of projects that include a graduation speech at MDC featuring President Barack Obama, a baseball season preview, and a feature story on an MDC student with cerebral palsy.

Brunson, a 2007 graduate of Miami Carol City Senior High School, has previously interned at Hip Hop Weekly Magazine and the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, and has served as a freelance journalist for the River Cities Gazette.

“My experience with The Reporter has prepared me for this,” Brunson said. “I’m excited to see where this experience takes me.”
