Three Students Awarded Francisco Foundation Scholarshi

Diana Arrieta Luligo, Melissa Larrocha and Vivarian Moulton were awarded the Francisco Foundation Scholarship in mid-February. Each student will each receive $2,500.

The winners were selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership, community service, academic excellence and a love of democracy and freedom.

Luligo was born in Colombia and is in Miami Dade College’s accelerated nursing program.

Larrocha, a two-time winner, is originally from Chile and is a mass communications/broadcast journalism major at the Honors College Dual Language Program in the InterAmerican Campus.

Moulton, a freshman, is planning to obtain three bachelor degrees, in English, nursing and criminal justice.

The scholarship was created in honor of Rogelio Francisco Gonzalez. He was executed in 1961 by Fidel Castro’s regime when he was 28-years old for attempts to subvert the dictatorship.
