West Campus Appoints New Media Services Manager
Dash Ruiz has been chosen as the manager of the media services department at West Campus. He started the position on Oct. 3.
Ruiz will oversee the campus’ marketing through photography, events, audio visual, graphic design and video production.
“I can finally influence things in the department,” Ruiz said. “I don’t like to manage. I like to lead and now I can officially do that.”
Prior to his appointment, Ruiz served as a media services coordinator at Miami Dade College for the past 11 years and as a special events organizer at Kendall Campus from June of 2005 to September of 2012.
Outside of MDC, Ruiz was a cast-member of Just the Funny, an improvisational theater company in South Florida, from May of 2015 to September of 2018 and as an actor for the Dinner Detective: Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida from July of 2018 to February of 2020.
He will continue to serve as a performer, graphic designer, video editor, podcast producer and social media specialist for the Society Circus Players, a Miami-based professional improv troupe that he co-owns and has participated in for nearly 10 years, and as a voice actor for Kilburn Media, an entertainment agency in Los Angeles, California.
The 40-year-old also enters his 20th year at Independent Championship Wrestling, an entertainment company in Miami where he serves as vice president, social media specialist and wrestler.
Ruiz earned a bachelor’s degree in supervision and management from MDC last spring. He also received an associate of science degree in radio and television broadcasting in 2005 and an associate of arts degree in mass communications and media studies in 2009.
