West Campus Exhibit Ode To Breast Cancer Victim

To kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, West Campus, 3800 N.W. 115th Ave., will host the opening ceremony of Fita de Rojas: Make a Difference an art exhibit by Gustavo Garcia in Room 1105 on Oct. 3 at noon.

Garcia lost his mother to breast cancer, compelling him to create the exhibit.

The art exhibit consists of 1,296 hand-painted portraits of individuals who were all connected to a single cancer victim, with a portrait of the victim in the center and several explanatory frames throughout the sides,” said Sara Alegría, the associate director of learning resources at West Campus.

Put together, the exhibit is 14 feet tall and 12 feet wide. The show runs through Oct. 28. For more information about the exhibit, contact Sara Alegría at (305) 237-8525 or salegria@mdc.edu
