Hector Noriega was selected as the new director of the Honors College at Wolfson Campus. He started the position on Dec. 1.
His responsibilities include advising honors students, coordinating their curriculum and leading academic programming and student recruitment for the program.
“I am particularly interested in ensuring that the Honors experience supports diverse, high-achieving students while preparing them for competitive transfer institutions, scholarships, and graduate study,” Noriega said.
The 37-year-old replaces Virginia Fuillerat, who served as director of the Honors College at Wolfson Campus for 22 years before retiring in November.
Noriega previously worked at Miami Dade College in October of 2014 serving as a student services coordinator for MDC Online. Three years later he was promoted to Director of Student Services for the department.
In October of 2022, he took a position as director of Information Technology and Student Experience at the University of Miami where he stayed until December of 2024.
Noriega earned bachelor’s degrees in public relations and psychology from Florida International University in 2012. He also has a master’s degree in higher education administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
