The Koubek Center Presents Playtime: Son Jarocho

Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center, 2705 S.W. 3rd St., will present Playtime: Son Jarocho on March 31 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will host arts, crafts, literary histories, music and dance focusing on son jorocho, a regional folk music and dance style from Veracruz, Mexico. The event is in partnership with Miami’s Ameyal Mexican Cultural Organization, an organization focusing on Mexican culture, and Chicago’s Ida y Vuelta Folkloric Ensemble, which fuses African, Spanish and Indigenous music and poetry from over 300 years ago into new original tunes. A puppet show by Bajalú, a group under the Ameyal Cultural Organization, will be showcased.

The Playtime Series provides children with events to learn Spanish. The event is free and open to the public.
