Art Student Receives Rosendo Rosell Scholarship

Jane Negreira, an art major at Kendall Campus, received the 2019 Rosendo Rosell Scholarship.

The scholarship, a $1,500 prize, recognizes Hispanic students in the arts.

Negreira, 19, was matched with the award through Miami Dade College’s 2019-20 scholarship application—a brief questionnaire with two short-response essay questions.

She was honored by the College’s administrators and the scholarship’s donors at a breakfast luncheon on July 31.

“I felt very excited about winning and getting to meet the donors over breakfast,” Negreira said. “Go and apply for scholarships, even if you don’t think you might win. It’s something really exciting.”

The scholarship is named in honor of Rosendo Rosell, a Cuban actor and musician who dedicated his life to helping communities.
