Professors Awarded Endowed Teaching Chair Awards

Five Miami Dade College professors were selected as 2019 Endowed Teaching Chairs during a ceremony at Wolfson Campus on Dec. 10. 

The recipients are: Maria del Carmen Alvarez, a math professor that won the Mitchell Wolfson, Jr. Endowed Teaching Chair; Alvio Dominguez, a math professor that won the Eduardo J. Padrón Endowed Teaching Chair; Davia Hudson-Holness, a chemistry professor who that the Peter Masiko, Jr. Endowed Teaching Chair; Susan G. Lichtman, a mass communication professor that won the The Linda and Hank Raattama Endowed Teaching Chair and Hien Minh Nguyen, a computer science professor that won the Manuel D. Medina Endowed Teaching Chair. 

They were selected based on their success rate as a professor and teaching capabilities with students. 

The recipients will receive an annual stipend of $7,500 for three years to expand their teaching and projects. 

Since the program’s inception in 1992, over 300 professors have been recognized with the Endowed Teaching Chair. The awards are funded through the MDC Foundation.
