Arts And Philosophy Announces New Department Chair

Andres Quiroga has been selected as the incoming chair of the Arts and Philosophy Department at North Campus

Quiroga, who began on Jan. 6, oversees the department’s faculty, course offerings and artistic projects.

“More than anything else, I feel responsible for the advocacy of the program now,” Quiroga said.

“One of the reasons I took the job is to be a loud and strong advocate for the department.”

Quiroga began working at Miami Dade College in 2009 as a theater professor. Aside from MDC, he also served as the artistic director of the theater group, Penn Players, until 2019.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from New World School of the Arts in 1997, and graduated with a master’s in theatre education and performance from Florida Atlantic University in 2005.
