Lenore Rodicio, executive vice-president and provost at Miami Dade College, was selected as Vice Chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
Rodicio, 46, assumed her duties on Jan. 22. She will serve for a year before being named chair of the committee.
“I will use this post as a source to improve student success and retention at MDC, especially as it relates to academic pathways and general education outcomes,” Rodicio said.
The AACU is a higher education committee that aims to promote education quality and diversity in public colleges and universities. Rodicio has served on the committee since 2016.
Rodicio, who began working at the College in 2001 as a chemistry professor, has served as Provost of the College since 2016. She oversees MDC’s internal operations such as the fiscal budget, facilities, academic curriculum, workforce development programs, among others.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Barry University in 1994 and later earned a doctor of philosophy in chemistry from Louisiana State University in 1999.
