Virtual Discussion About Race Issues In The Hispanic Community

Homestead Campus will host a virtual discussion about race and racism within the Hispanic community, called Yo No Soy Racista! Hispanics and Race in America: A conversation, on Oct. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. via Webex (the password is Race).

Panelists will include Simeon Richardson, an English and history professor at Homestead Campus; Ilia Calderon, a news anchor for Univision‘s national evening newscast; and Boris Sanchez, a Miami Dade College alumni and White House correspondent for CNN.

The discussion will be moderated by Jairo Ledesma, who teaches history and sociology at Homestead Campus.

“I think this is a great opportunity to unpack the misconceptions of race in Latin America and in the United States,” Ledesma said. “And it is a difficult conversation, but we have to have it.”

For more information, contact Ledesma at jledesma@mdc.edu or (305) 237-5005.
