AXIS, Miambiance and The Reporter Selected As Pacemaker Finalist

Three Miami Dade College student publications—AXIS, Miambiance and The Reporter—have been selected as Pacemaker finalists.

The award is the top national prize for student newspapers and literary magazines. They are awarded by the Associated Collegiate Press.

AXIS and Miambiance were two of five finalists  in the two-year college literary magazine category. The Reporter was one of nine finalists in the two-year college newspaper category.

Entries were based on content produced during the 2019-20 school year.

Newspapers are judged based on the quality of writing, reporting, design, multimedia and illustrations. It’s the second straight year The Reporter has been nominated for a Pacemaker and the fifth time since it was founded in 2010. The paper won Pacemakers in 2013 and 2014.

AXIS, the literary arts magazine at North Campus, has been nominated for a Pacemaker the past three years. It won the award in 2018.

Miambiance, the literary arts magazine at Kendall Campus, won Pacemakers in 2009 and 2015.

The magazines feature works of prose, poetry, art and photography from students enrolled at their respective campus.

Winners will be announced virtually on Oct. 22 during the Fall National College Media Convention.
