Workshop To Help Support Victims Of Domestic Violence

Miami Dade College’s Office of Sexual Violence Prevention is hosting Empowerment The Advocate’s Way on Oct. 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. via Cisco Webex. It’s a workshop about how to support survivors of domestic violence.

It will be presented by Shena Kitt, a certified victims advocate who will describe what it’s like to be a survivor and provide resources that victims of domestic violence can use.

“Survivors of domestic violence have had their power diminished or taken from them by an abusive partner,” said Reisha Williams, the College’s director of interpersonal violence prevention. “Part of our work as a community is to increase people’s awareness of domestic violence.”

For more information contact Williams at rwilli6@mdc.edu or (305) 237-2663.
