Nicole Washington Elected As Vice Chair Of MDC Board Of Trustees

Miami Dade College’s Board of Trustees unanimously elected Nicole Washingtonwho recently chaired the school’s presidential search committeeas its vice chair.

“It’s an honor to serve,” Washington said shortly after the announcement at the BOT’s monthly meeting on Tuesday.

Washington has been a trustee since July of 2019 when she was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis. She replaces Carlos Migoya, who announced his resignation last week.

Since January of 2019, Washington has served as a national education policy advisor and principal for Washington Education Strategies, a group that strives to improve postsecondary education opportunities for students. She also works as a consultant for the Lumina Foundation and the Florida College Access Network—two organizations that seek to expand student success—and as a board member for Florida A&M University and the LeRoy Collins Institute.

Washington earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, African American studies and education from Princeton University in 2004. She also has a master’s in elementary study education and teaching from Mercy College, and a master’s in international and comparative education from the Teachers College of Columbia University.
