Honors Student Named To 2022 All-USA Academic Team

Susana Piedrahita, an economics student at The Honors College at the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus, was chosen as a member of the 2022 All-USA Academic Team on March 8.

Piedrahita is one of 20 college students selected for the distinction. She will receive $5,000.

“I was just so happy,” the 20-year-old said. “It was just such an exciting moment.”

Piedrahita was selected for the award after demonstrating academic excellence, intellectual rigor, leadership and service with her initiative Heal From Within in partnership with her campus’ Phi Theta Kappa. The project focuses on offering resources to students struggling with their mental health.

“[It] is an honor and privilege to see Susana thrive and excel in the highest way possible,” said PTK advisor Diego Tibaquirá.

Piedrahita is scheduled to graduate in April with her associate’s degree. She plans to transfer to the University of Miami and follow a pre-law track.
