Wolfson Campus Library Undergoing Restroom Renovations
The Wolfson Campus library, located in Room 1216, has been relocated to the computer courtyard (Room 2201) while restroom renovations are completed.
Updates will include new fixtures, tiles, lighting and plumbing. The work is part of a campus-wide remodeling project to restore the restroom areas.
The library is expected to reopen on Aug. 19.
“These are older buildings and these types of maintenance projects keep us functional and more efficient in lighting and water use,” said Ana DeMahy, the senior director of campus administration at Wolfson Campus.
Signs have been posted in front of the library to let visitors know about the temporary move and the library’s phone lines and its staff are now based at the computer courtyard to assist guests.
Students can make book requests in-person at the computer courtyard or online. After the books have been retrieved, pickups are arranged at the computer courtyard.
Appointments to meet with a librarian can be scheduled online through Miami Dade College’s learning resources page. The meetups can be held virtually or in-person in Room 2201-04.
Despite the accommodations, some students say they are not satisfied with the short-term arrangement.
“The books and everything are over there,” said William Hamilton, a 28-year-old veterinary technology student who frequently studies at the library. [The library] is a much bigger space.”
The Wolfson Campus library’s hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can reach them at 305-237-7022.
