The 33rd Annual Miami International Film Festival will take place March 4 through March 13. It will feature filmmakers from 40 countries. The cinematic innovators will exhibit 129 feature, documentaries and short films.

This year’s lineup will feature12 world, one international, 16 North American and 13 U.S. premieres.

The program line-up includes numerous categories made up of CINEDWNTWN Galas, Marquee Series, Soiree Series, Knight competition, Knight Documentary Achievement Award, Lexus Ibero American Feature Film Competition, Jordan Alexander Ressler Screenwriting Competition, Lee Brian Schrager’s Culinary Cinema, Cinema 360º, Visions, Florida Focus, Reel Music, Miami Film 2016, Miffectio, Google Seminar Series, Masterclass, Shorts Competition, and Opening and Awards Night.

Venues vary by program. Many films are screened in historic Miami landmarks like Olympia Theater, 174 E Flagler St., and MDC’s Tower Theater, 1508 SW 8th St.

Alejandra Zimmermann

Alejandra Zimmermann, 19, is a mass communications/journalism major in the Honors College at Kendall Campus. Zimmermann, a 2015 graduate of G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School, will serve as a staff writer in the briefing section of The Reporter during the 2015-16 school year. While at Braddock, she served as a section editor at the GHB Times. Zimmermann aspires to become a journalist for The New York Times.
