Non-Profit Climate Organization Seeking Apprentices

The Urban Paradise Guild, a non-profit organization that champions environmental sustainability in South Florida, is seeking apprentices.

Twenty positions are open in fields such as landscape architecture, gardening, farming, education, social media, and graphic design.

The apprenticeship, which will run from October through July, requires participants to work 30 hours weekly—10 hours on projects directly related to their position, such as designing landscape plans and teaching students, and 20 hours on group projects, like planting trees, removing invasive plants and creating butterfly habitats.

“We want somebody [who] understands our work culture, being outdoors, being active,”  said UPG Executive Director Jackeline Bonilla. “Might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it is ours and we love it.”

Apprentices will earn a monthly stipend of $1,725 and an additional $4,826 award upon completing 1,200 service hours.

Participants must undergo fingerprinting and a background check.
