The Coquette Aesthetic Steps Into The World Of Athletic Shoes

Sandy Liang has taken the fashion world by storm with her ultra-feminine aesthetic that pays homage to the coquette style. You might recognize her designs on stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Blackpink’s Jennie and Laufey.

Known for her romantic designs featuring ribbon-bow motifs, it is an understatement to say that she’s injecting girlhood back into fashion.

Liang has collaborated with Saloman, a French sportswear brand that specializes in high-quality footwear. Its repertoire includes products for various activities such as hiking, snowboarding, running, and skiing.

The female designer’s playful approach to design makes her the perfect candidate for a collaboration with Saloman. She brings a fresh perspective to sports footwear, showcasing the versatility and creativity that emerge when fashion and function unite.

Saloman and Sandy Liang are no strangers to each other. After previously collaborating in 2023, the 2024 version of their collaboration features three new additions to the lineup.

The designs include footwear such as a Saloman Black sneaker that ditches the traditional laces, replacing them with pale pink ribbons. Another addition is a reimagined Mary Jane silhouette combining contemporary style and outdoor functionality. It comes in cream, white and black.

With the two designs, the ballerina look is apparent. It’s a staple of the Sandy Liang brand. In an interview with Hypebeast, Liang expresses her love for the iconic ballet shoe, stating, the pointe shoe has always fascinated me and I thought it’d be beautiful to incorporate the ribbon details into a Salomon shoe.”

Liang’s innovative approach to blending ballet elements with outdoor footwear creates a unique and fashion-forward aesthetic. This blending of styles sets the collaboration apart in the world of streetwear and high fashion.

The limited-edition sneakers combine Salomon’s expertise in performance footwear with Sandy Liang’s distinctive aesthetic, creating a product that appeals to fashion enthusiasts and outdoor enthusiasts.

That is a huge step for both brands, as the collaboration reflects a growing trend in the fashion industry of high-end designers partnering with more affordable brands to reach broader, more diverse markets.

This symbiotic venture, which launched in July, allows Salomon to attract the attention of fashion enthusiasts worldwide and Sandy Liang to broaden her name recognition. Moreover, these versatile sneakers, priced between $150 and $160, offer an opportunity for individuals who can’t afford to buy Sandy Liang’s exorbitantly priced designer clothing.
