MDC Alumna Hired As WLRN’s South Florida Roundup Producer
Eduardo J. Padrón Campus alumna Jimena Romero Guzman has been hired as a news and public affairs producer for WLRN’s South Florida Roundup, a weekly radio show highlighting local issues.
She began her role on May 28.
Her responsibilities include researching news, interviewing people, writing and editing stories, curating discussion topics and conducting microphone checks.
“I look forward to growing in this role, learning a lot from my colleagues and being a bridge between the people and a message,” she said.
Guzman previously interned at WUFT—a news station based in Gainesville, Florida—for two years, working as a news anchor for All Things Considered and a producer and hostess for The Point Podcast.
During that time, she also served as a communications intern at Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases and at Screen Engine/ASI, a research firm specializing in entertainment and media.
At Padrón Campus, Guzman was a producer and director for Urbanites, the campus’ literary arts magazine’s podcast, from 2020-22.
The 23-year-old earned an associate’s degree in mass communications/journalism from Miami Dade College in 2022. Two years later, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida.
