Former Rising Scholar Lands Social Media Internship at Good Morning America

Terill Smith, who graduated from Miami Dade College in April of 2023, completed an internship with the social media team at Good Morning America this summer.

From June-August, Smith created content for GMA’s digital platforms. He filmed talent, edited videos, designed graphics and carousels, wrote captions and pitched ideas.

“Getting to be around high-level talent including celebrities every day, work on projects that reach out to multiple people on social media, and learn how to really be professional was the best part about it,” Smith said.

The 23-year-old earned an associate degree in graphic and commercial arts from North Campus. He served as Student Government Association treasurer during the 2022-23 academic year and was a Rising Scholar.

“The Rising Scholars program taught me how to fully be a college student, be involved, and how to be financially more responsible,” Smith said. “It allowed me to grow, network, and how to build those skills early on.”

Smith, who aspires to be a creative director, is currently a senior at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. He is expected to graduate in December with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.
