Sandra Castillo, an English and social science professor at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus, received a grant to travel to New Mexico as a National Endowment for the Humanities Scholar to participate in a workshop created to study the artist Georgia O’Keeffe and her work.
The weeklong workshop from June 24 —30, titled “Georgia O’Keefee: Santa Fe, Abiquiú, and the New Mexico Landscape” will give Castillo, along with other community college faculty members, the opportunity to learn about the culture and landscape that influenced the artist’s revolutionary work.
The grant was received through a stipend that covers the cost of travel, accommodations, and expenses.
