SEDT Students Win Best Short Film

Alexander Beregovoy, a film production technology major at the North Campus School of Entertainment and Design Technology, was awarded Best Short Film at the Miami Short Film Festival.

Beregovoy, who directed the project, received the award on Nov. 19 for the film adaptation of “OCD,” a poem written and performed by Neil Hilborn that shook the Internet in 2013.

His crew consisted of Amanda Reyes, Karina Rey, Melissa Espinoza, Felipe Donoso, Patrick Ramdial and Giselle Rodriguez.

After obtaining copyright permission, the crew produced the film for a class project and later on submitted it to compete against 20 other short films.

“OCD” briefly describes a love that blossomed and died due to the protagonist’s obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

According to the director, the film is meant to entertain and relate to the audience, because everyone experiences OCD sometimes.
