A Drama Between Sisters
If you love drama then this is the film for you. Your Sister’s Sister, directed by Lynn Shelton, is a film that will make your life’s drama seem like a walk in the park.
The film opens with a group of friends reminiscing the life of an old friend who died a year ago. As they sit around telling old stories, Jack (Mark Duplass), is still having a hard time letting go of the loss of his brother. Iris (Emily Blunt), Jack’s dear friend, decides to send him to her father’s cabin on a remote island to rethink his life. When he arrives he runs into Iris’s sister, Hannah (Rosemarie DeWitt), who is drinking her sorrows away. Jack soon decides to join her and their problems begin.
Shot within 12 days in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, the film was estimated to have a budget of about $125,000. Rachel Weisz was originally cast to play the role of Hannah but had to drop her role three days before the shoot, leading to Rosemarie DeWitt being cast the day before the shoot began.
Your Sister’s Sister is a comedy-drama with so many plot twists your head will probably spin. To put so much drama into one film and be able to pull it off is by far very impressive; Shelton really captured how life can truly have its problems and no matter what, the love for someone can really help you overlook the situation.
Watching the characters stay by each others’ side and try to overcome every situation that is thrown their way would inspire many to take a look at their personal problems and try to find a solution for everyone.
Your Sister’s Sister is a film that will certainly make you think about all of the challenges you’ve faced in your life, and for a film to accomplish that is a successful film indeed.
