Art Exhibition To Celebrate Disability Awareness Month

ACCESS Services at Kendall Campus is hosting an art competition to raise awareness for the diverse abilities people with disabilities have. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 13.  

Entries can include drawings, paintings, multimedia, photography, sculptures and digital art.

To participate, Miami Dade College students can submit their work, accompanied with an artistic statement expressing the meaning of their piece, to the front desk at ACCESS Services in Room 2121. 

All work will be displayed on the first floor of the Learning Commons (building 2) from Oct. 16-25.

Winners will be announced at the Fred Shaw Plaza on Oct. 25 at noon.

The first-place winner will receive a $500 tuition grant and be featured in Volume 34 of Miambiance, the arts and literature magazine at Kendall Campus. Second and third place will receive $300 and $100 tuition grants respectively.

Andrea Briones

Andrea Briones, 20, is a mass communication/journalism major in The Honors College at North Campus. Briones, who graduated from Youth Co-Op Preparatory High School in 2023, will serve as Social Media Director and a news writer for The Reporter during the 2024-2025 school year. She aspires to work in the public relations field and be a content creator.
