Department Of Energy Internships Open To Students

Applications for the Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program are open until January 31.

The program aims to address the under-representation of minorities in the STEM workforce by offering summer internships with the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories.

MEISPP offers 10-week assignments from June 5 through August 11. 

Students will gain technical skills through development workshops and receive a $650 weekly stipend, a housing allowance starting at $240, and travel reimbursement to and from assignment locations—which include states like California, Texas and New York—up to $1,000.

Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have earned at least 24 undergraduate semester hours and be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Olivia Valkenburg

Olivia Valkenburg, 25, is a mass communications major at Wolfson Campus. After graduating in 2017 from Fusion Academy Englewood in New Jersey, Valkenburg studied at Fordham University in New York City before relocating to Miami during the coronavirus pandemic.
