Elections Poll Worker Being Recruited

The Miami-Dade County Elections Department is recruiting poll workers for the Aug. 20 primary and the Nov. 5 elections.

Participants can serve as inspectors, which greet voters and ensure they have proper identification, or poll deputies, which set up polling locations and guide voters to ballot tables.

“The more poll workers we have, the more polling locations we have open and the more access people have to exercise their right to vote,” said Melissa Lau, grant coordinator of the Institute of Civic Engagement and Democracy.

Applicants must complete an Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) Form and a four-hour training, speak English and be United States citizens and registered to vote. They will earn a $200 stipend.
