Free Screening Of My Old Ass For MDC Students

The Miami Film Society is hosting a screening of My Old Ass on Aug. 6 at the Koubek Center, 2705 S.W. Third St., at 7:30 p.m.

Miami Dade College students can get free tickets through Aug. 5 by contacting membership@miamifilmfestival.com using their MDC email. Seating is limited.

Set against the backdrop of the Muskoka Lakes of Canada, the dramatic comedy follows 18-year-old Elliott Labrant, played by Canadian actress Maisy Stella, as she transitions from adolescence into adulthood.

After getting high off mushrooms during her 18th birthday, Labrant encounters her 39-year-old self, played by Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza, who helps the youngster reevaluate her choices and relationships.

“I thought it was going to be a little bit more of a silly film…but the end result was one that I thought was so emotional and touching, and honestly, a bit of a tear jerker,” said Lauren Cohen, director of programming of the Miami Film Festival.
