Hialeah Campus Welcomes New Public Safety Chief

Travis George was appointed as the public safety chief at Hialeah Campus on April 1.

His duties include ensuring the campus is safe from threats and training public safety officers. He aims to institute training courses for high-risk emergencies, including traffic control, active shooter scenarios, fire drills and crowd management.

“My main goal is to create a safe campus environment with officers you can count on,” George said.

Prior to his current role, George served as a park ranger supervisor for the City of Hallandale in 2023, as a park ranger for Broward County in 2022 and as a park ranger coordinator for the City of Fort Lauderdale’s police department from 2013 to 2021.

He also worked as a park and enforcement specialist for the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2012.

The 35-year-old earned a bachelor’s degree in emergency management from Arkansas Tech University in 2011.
