Japanese Spring Festival And Anime Convention Come To Town

The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, located at 4000 Morikami Park Rd., in Delray Beach will host the 36th Annual Hatsume Fair on April 18-19.

The event will have plenty to offer Japanese culture enthusiast and Otaku’s alike. There are various activities and games from taiko drumming to martial arts demonstrations at the Osaka Stage; or participate in the anime costume contests and fashion shows held at the Pikachu Stage.

For those with their stomachs in mind, there is a huge food vendor area to be set up for the event, with sake and Pan-Asian cuisine plus all American classic dishes.

The gates will open at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. both days. Tickets are $12 for adults (ages 11 and older) and $6 for children (ages 4-10), when purchased online. If purchasing at the gate, prices increase to $15 for adults and $10 for children .

The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is home to koi fish and 300 year-old bonsai trees, the museum invites all ages to walk about their magnificent gardens. Well known among the regular crowd, especially among constituents of the museum, is the Cornell Café; which makes absolutely divine sushi, as well as blissful cups of green tea.

In addition, for Japanese culture lovers, Sukoshi Con is bringing Anime Paradise to South Florida for the first time. The social anime convention will be held at the Inverrary Vacation Resort, 3501 Inverrary Blvd., on June 5-7 in Ft. Lauderdale.

There will be an opening night party, special guest speaker panels, cosplay contests and a huge blowout party on Saturday with EDM local DJ Rainbow Rabbit, as well as vendors of favored gaming and anime series.

Sukoshi Con: Anime Paradise will also be holding several tournaments for many genres of gaming, virtual and tabletop which include first person shooting, Smash Bros., Magic: The Gathering, and many more.

Sukoshi Con has announced two voice actors so far, one of which is Sonny Strait who is considered to be one of the most recognized voice actors in the business. Besides Dragonball Z‘s Krillin he has voiced many popular animated characters including Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist, Usopp from One Piece and Cartoon Network’s laid back robot host Toonami Tom.

Chris Cason is the voice for Mr. Popo and Tien Shinhan in Dragonball Z, Holy Roman Empire in Hetalia, Gluttony in Fullmetal Alchemist, Face McShooty and Mal in Borderlands 2 and Jack the Ripper in Soul Eater.

Sukoshi Con has also announced an improv group to be performing over the three day convention—aniRAGE; from their marquee Whose Line is it aniRAGE.

Tickets are available now through pre-registration for $40 for all three days until May 1 with prices capping at $45. These tickets include passes to the welcoming party and EDM rave. Guests will also be entered into a raffle for a one of a kind Attack on Titan autographed piece.
