Jazz At Wolfson To Kick Off Season With MDC Jazz Faculty Quartet

The Arts and Philosophy Department at Wolfson Campus is hosting the 25th edition of the Jazz at Wolfson Present series from September 13 to April 3, 2024.

Opening the series is the MDC Jazz Faculty Quartet on Sept 13 at the Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 N. E. Second Ave., in Room 1261 at noon.

The MDC Jazz Faculty Quartet is a group of professors that include pianist Jim Gasior, saxophonist Mark Small, bassist Patrick Leavy and drummer Ludwig Afonso.

They will be paying tribute to the late American saxophonist Wayne Shorter, who passed away last March, and the late American pianist Anthony “Chick” Corea, who passed away in February of 2021.

This is the first year that Mark Small, who also teaches humanities and fine and applied music at Wolfson Campus, will lead the Jazz at Wolfson programing. Michael Di Liddo, who created the initiative, stepped down from the post in July because he is retiring from the College in December.

Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.
