Keeping Up With Kendall To Debut In Summer Term

Kendall Campus is getting its own social media showKeeping Up With Kendall

The program will feature 15-minute-long interviews with faculty, students, staff and community leaders in Kendall discussing opportunities in the South Miami suburb.

It is expected to make its debut in May or early June and will air once a month on the campus’ Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels.

“It [will] be a great thing to spotlight things that are happening [at] Kendall Campus and in the community,” said Anthony Cruz, the president of Kendall and Hialeah campuses, who will be hosting the show. “It raises the spirits, gets people motivated [and] gets people hyped up.”

The show is modeled after ¿Qué Pasa Hialeah?, which aired in 2020 and highlights news and happenings around the Hialeah Campus and city.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, ¿Qué Pasa Hialeah? was forced to become an online show recorded on Microsoft Teams.

Keeping Up With Kendall will be recorded in-person at Kendall Campus.

Although the guests remain a surprise, Cruz has already planned the topics of the first three episodes.

The first will feature a professional in the community talking about their industry, the second will spotlight one or two 2022 graduates talking about their future plans and the third episode will launch the 2022-23 academic year with a faculty or staff member.

“There are plenty of people in Kendall that are pretty interesting and would be great to bring out to the show to share their information,” Cruz said.

Keeping Up With Kendall will be produced by the media services department who will edit and post the show.

To help with the filming, editing and production of the show, media services is hoping to hire student assistants. Interested students should visit https://mdcwap.mdc.edu/finaidworkstudy/, select Kendall Campus and search for the student assistant job with the media department.

“We envision it as an avenue to facilitate discussion, a place to encourage and ultimately engage students about opportunities all around them,” said Russell E. Kaufman, the Kendall Campus chief information officer who oversees the media services department. “There is a drive and passion that embodies the Kendall Campus, and I hope everyone can keep up.”
