Live Arts Miami Hopes To Create A Splash With CARABOOM

Live Arts Miami will present the world premiere of CARABOOM,  the tale of a wacky family that decides to run a car wash in the midst of a pandemic.

Created by Natasha Tsakos, the in-person show will take place in parking lot 1 at Wolfson Campus, 233 N.E. 5th St, from March 31 to April 1. Two shows—at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.— will run daily.

“Our goal for CARABOOM  is for everyone to leave feeling more joyful and hopeful than when they came in,” Tsakos said. “CARABOOM is a show about love, connection and celebration, under the guise of a surreal car wash run by the Caraboom Family.”

Tsakos got the idea for the performance after realizing that the pandemic had changed how entertainment can be presented.

“As the world began to zig onto virtual platforms, I began to zag and reimagine how live entertainment could be produced and experienced,” Tsakos said.

CARABOOM is a unique show filled with absurdity and physical poetry as it follows the Caraboom Family’s tribulations and triumphs.

Participants and passengers are immersed in a splash-filled journey thanks to foam cannons, bubble machines and human water fountains, while the family does its hardest to hold it together.

Audiences can experience CARABOOM from the Boom Zones, for a worldwide view of the show, the Splash Zone, for splash-filled action or from the comfort of their own car.

CARABOOM is the much needed boost of joy that we all need after two tumultuous years of pandemic life,” said Live Arts Miami Executive Director Kathryn Garcia in a press release announcing the show. “Live Arts Miami is so thrilled to be a part of this extraordinary project that will bring some foolish fun into people’s lives while reinventing how and where performances happen in 2022 and beyond.”
