MAGIC Students Can Now Study Abroad In Canada
On April 2016, Miami Dade College signed a partnership with Emily Carr University, located in Vancouver, Canada, that will allow students enrolled in the Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex program to partake in a study abroad experience.
“The animation and video game production industry has been growing considerably in Canada in the past years,” said MAGIC’s chairperson, Mauricio Ferrazza. “Having MAGIC students study for a period of time in Canada at a local university would benefit students, not only academically but also [other] opportunities could be introduced to them, like internships”
Depending on demand, students will be able to take a full semester abroad, or two weeks, during the summer as they take animation courses in Canada.
The Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex was inaugurated in August 2015 and has since offered a Game Development and Animation and Game Art curriculum to prepare students for the workforce.
