Man Exposed Himself To Student At Kendall Campus, Report Says
Police are looking for a man who exposed himself to a student at Kendall Campus, according to a Miami Dade College public safety report.
The incident happened on Oct. 13 at around 7:24 p.m. near a vending machine next to building 9 as the student waited for her father to pick her up.
“A review of surveillance footage showed the culprit was not a student but someone who wandered onto campus after exiting a bus,” said Juan Mendieta, the director of communications at MDC.
According to the report, the man approached the student as she sat at a table and started complimenting her. He then removed a black Nightmare Before Christmas backpack that was covering his groin area and indecently exposed himself.
The student, who was on her phone with her father at the time, cursed at the man who then walked toward lot 10.
Public safety patrols have been increased in the area but MDC officials believe the incident is an isolated case.
Chris Thomas, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, said the detective assigned to the case “is still working leads.”
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male possibly in his late 30’s with a regular build and about 5’10.” He was wearing a dark face mask, light T-shirt, gray cargo pants with short hair and held a water container in his hand.
College officials advise students, faculty and staff to stay alert of their surroundings and walk in groups. They can also request a public safety escort to their vehicle by calling the Kendall Campus’ 24-hour dispatch center at (305) 237-2100.
