MDC Designated As A Collegiate Purple Star Campus
In February, the Florida Department of Education tabbed Miami Dade College as one of 10 Florida Collegiate Purple Star Campuses.
The distinction, which is for three academic years, is bestowed on colleges that demonstrate a commitment to supporting military families.
Miami Dade College serves nearly 1,000 veteran students and helps with services such as academic advising, registration, study areas and student success coaches.
Four MDC campuses—North, Wolfson, West and Kendall—have Veteran & Military Service centers.
“This is the first time [MDC] gets awarded the Purple Star, and it just makes me even prouder of what I do,” said Danay Montes de Oca, the director of Veteran & Military Services at MDC.
