MDC Hires Vice President Of Communications And Marketing

Travis Jordan was appointed vice president of communications and marketing at Miami Dade College on June 10.

Jordan will oversee the College’s advertising, marketing, public relations, social media and web services areas. He plans to assess faculty, staff and students’ views of MDC and develop campaigns to promote the College’s brand and programs.

“When you look at the scope of work that Miami Dade College does, it’s just a great place to be,” Jordan said. “I think we’ve got to tell that story in a big way.”

Prior to his new post, Jordan served as the chief marketing and communications officer at  Western Carolina University for two and a half years.

In 2021, he was the vice president of marketing at Enterprise Florida, the state’s former business-recruitment agency, where he spearheaded initiatives such as Florida Breaks Through, a campaign aimed at galvanizing businesses, and Stories of Opportunity, a campaign spotlighting resilient small businesses in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The previous year, he was the statewide director of marketing and communications for the Florida Department of Education, where he led Get There Florida, a campaign aimed at raising awareness for workforce education and increasing enrollment for in-demand fields.

Throughout July of 2017 through June of 2020, Jordan served as director of integrated marketing at Tallahassee Community College, assistant director of communications and digital marketing at the University of South Florida and assistant director of marketing, communications and media at Florida State University.

Jordan also served as the creative media and marketing specialist and as the marketing coordinator and digital media manager at Broward College for more than six years.

Before moving to Florida, Jordan founded and oversaw ITP, a photography and video company that specialized in wedding videography, sports photography and corporate videos, from 2004 through 2011.

The 43-year-old earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Broward College in 2016 and a master’s degree in global strategic communications and marketing from Florida International University in 2017.
