MDC Jazz Workshop Ensemble To Host Concert At Kendall Campus

The MDC Jazz Workshop Ensemble is bringing a jazz-filled evening to Kendall Campus on July 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 8122.

Students will perform jazz and blues pieces such as Sunny by Bobby Hebb and Alright, Okay, You Win by Sid Wyche and Mayme Watts, on instruments like saxophones, trumpets, trombones, bass, piano and guitar.

Thomas McCormick, an adjunct professor at Kendall Campus’ Performing Arts and Industries Department, will direct the performance.

“We rehearse the entire six weeks and the goal is to do a concert,” said McCormick regarding the ensemble, which is part of a summer course at Kendall. “Students will work harder when they know we’re going to do a concert at the end. It gives them something to work towards.”

The event is free and open to the public.
